Since graduating in Economics from Newnham over 25 years ago, I have been happily ensconced at the Bank of England undertaking the widest variety of hugely interesting roles in what I can honestly say have been the most fascinating of times. (Think managing the financial crisis, cleaning up after it, establishing an independent central bank for monetary policy and dealing with the consequences of the UK’s decision to leave the EU - to name just a few!) My current role is as Executive Director responsible for the supervision of over 200 banks from more than 50 countries. And I’m leading our work to ensure the financial system is resilient to climate change.
As well as working, I have been back to school (to do an MSc in Finance at London Business School) and have managed (just about!) to have a balanced life as a working mum. I was the creator and co-Chair for 8 years of the Bank’s women’s network.
Having been fortunate to find myself in a career I thoroughly enjoy, I hope my experience will help others on topics such as career advice, mentoring, CV advice and general career support. Through my time at the Bank, I have had good insight into the City generally as well as into Whitehall.
