I retired early since when I completed a Masters in Landscape Archaeology at Sheffield University and I am currently studying Art History and Music at the Open University.
I volunteer with the National Trust as the Lead Archaeologist at Longshaw and as a Room Guide at Eyam Hall. I am a steward at Eyam Museum, and I manage a number of local community websites.
I have spent 35 years in the travel and leisure industries working for small companies (a travel agency and a sailing club) and large multi national organisations (Forte Hotel Group and Avis Rent a Car). For most of my career, I have specialised in IT and sales and marketing and was involved in the very first wave of web development as used in the commercial sector.
More recently, whilst managing a thriving sailing club, I have become more involved in social media and I have had first hand experience of running a small business.
Throughout my career, I have operated at Board level, and for many years I was involved as part of multi national teams
