After studying economics, I initially worked as a professional economist at the Bank of England, and then as a financial services regulator, becoming a director at the Financial Services Authority in 2002. In 2009, I switched to pursue a life-long interest in international development and worked until summer 2014 at VSO (first as Assistant CEO and then as Global Director for Corporate Engagement and Social Investment), having spent a year at Save the Children first. In both stages of my career, I have spent much time on strategic and change management, and I currently offer consultancy in this area. As a mother, I have experienced various flexible working patterns, and am keen to support other women juggling work and family life. And as an aspect of this interest, I have been Trustee of organisations with a connection to young people – in one case training youth leaders, and now at a large social enterprise that provides nursery education.
