On professional level, I have over 25 years work experience in the environmental consulting sector in the UK as well as internationally.  I demonstrate a wide range of expertise in Environmental Impact Assessments, Strategic Environmental Assessments, air quality assessments, carbon emissions and climate change which requires a strong technical background, in particular using environmental modelling tools.  This involved extensive travel during my career and working in the UK and Asia pacific region with comprehensive experience on large-scale international projects, as well as urban developments, infrastructure and transport. I am a fellow of the Royal Meteorological Society (FRMets), a Chartered Environmentalist (CEnv), a Chartered Engineer (CEng) and Chartered Physicist (CPhys). I published a book “Air Dispersion Modelling in Regulatory Applications” (2005) and have numerous publications at refereed Journal and international conferences.

I have many years of experience running projects, managing budgets and also line management of a team. I have provided formal technical evidence for planning meetings and public inquiries and acted as an expert witness.  I am currently Head of Air Quality & Climate Change at one of the largest engineering consulting firms in the UK.

I am an Expert Member of Environmental Modelling Committee for Ministry of Environment, China, a guest professor of Beijing Normal University, Chongqing University and Kunming Science and Technology University. I was a Co-Founder (2000) and Chair (2002-2005) of Chinese Association of Environment and Resources (UK-CARE) in the UK, also served as a vice president of Federation of Chinese Professional Societies in the UK (FCPS-UK).

I obtained a PhD in Environmental Science, MPhil in Engineering for Sustainable Development, MSc in Environmental Engineering, BEng in Environmental Engineering and BSc in Applied Physics.  I hope my experience could help female STEM students, by providing internship opportunities and career direction and advice. During my “spare time”, I am a writer and chief editor of a Chinese literature journal based in Cambridge since 2001. As a busy working mum, I am also able to offer experience on family and work enrichment (or lessons learned).
